Krafft explains the significance of the Swamp of Death.
Transcript:
Krafft: Krafft here. You are currently on one of the most remote islands in the Japanese archipelago.
Krafft: The few who know of it have long considered it haunted. Though “sacred” might be a better word.
Krafft: It is a natural “weak spot” between this world and the Dark Aether. It is where Saraxis first made contact with humanity, many centuries ago.
Krafft: The locals built a modest shrine there. But not Shinto. Not Buddhist. No, this was... its own thing.
Krafft: But while she was distracted with her “playthings,” the keepers of the shrine were contacted by Kortifex himself.
Krafft: He told them she was a threat to their feudal lord, which she was currently inhabiting. He gave them the means to trap her.
Krafft: So when Saraxis returned to visit her old stamping grounds, the priests were waiting with the relic.
Krafft: Later, when the shrine was forgotten, and the Japanese Imperial Army set up an outpost, they had no idea Saraxis's artifact lay beneath them.
Krafft: And now Die Wahrheit have left their own stamp on the place, but it remains a place of magic... and menace.
